Geveva hosts ITU Telecom World 2011
Baku, October 25 (AZERTAC). The international “ITU Telecom World 2011” event is underway in Geneva, Switzerland on October 24.
As part of the event, the 4th meeting of the Broadband Commission for Digital Development and Broadband Leadership Summit was held.
The gathering brought together heads of state and government, chiefs of world`s leading IT services companies and representatives of more than 250 governments, industry and NGOs.
Azerbaijan is represented by a delegation led by Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov at the ITU Telecom World 2011.
Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov made a keynote speech in a panel session. The minister provided detailed information about the reforms implemented in the country`s ICT sector, projects of regional importance, in particular, Project Trans-Eurasian Super Information Highway (TASIM), the launch of the first artificial telecommunication satellite and other projects of regional and global significance and responded to the questions from participants.
Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies is acting as media sponsor of the given events and on this occasion a press conference was organized, where Ali Abbasov made a presentation and answered questions from foreign journalists.
On the second day of the event, opening ceremony of the exhibition on telecommunications and information technologies was held.
Azerbaijan presented a national ICT pavilion at the exhibition.
Minister Ali Abbasov familiarized himself with the exhibition, gave an interview in a special pavilion “ITU Hub” of the International Telecommunication Union, and held several bilateral meetings.
