GUAM observers make statement on parliamentary elections of Moldova

A group of observers of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development, GUAM was invited to the elections of parliament of Moldova which passed on November 30.
The Group comprising Elton Mammadov, member of the GUAM PA, the head of group, Mirkazim Kazimov, member of GUAM PA, Nodar Ebanoidze, MP of Georgia, member of GUAM PA, and the GUAM Secretary General Valery Chechelashvili observed the elections.
Based on the results of observation on 24 polling precincts in the city of Kishinev, the GUAM observers have made the following statement: “Parliamentary elections of Moldova were organized and held according to the international obligations and standards of democratic elections, including obligations and standards of OSCE and the Council of Europe, and also the national legislation, rules and procedures developed by Central Election Commission of the Republic of Moldova”.
Despite high competitiveness, the document states further, the elections passed quietly, orderly. High activity was observed on polling precincts.
As for general electoral process, the organization of elections and activity of the commissions on election sites, separate remarks which have the GUAM observers, are of no principled character and can't affect results of vote essentially.
“The group of GUAM observers finds it possible to declare the results of monitoring that elections can be estimated positively - as free and fair”, the statement emphasizes.
