HEAD OF STATE CUSTOMS SERVICE MEETS WITH FRENCH AMBASSADOR
The Head of the Committee described the existing Azerbaijan-France cooperation as successful in various fields including politics and economy. He mentioned the special role of national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev in expansion of the friendly relations between the two countries.
“The visits to France by the great leader and former President in 1993, and by incumbent President Ilham Aliyev in 2004 made great contribution to deepening cooperation between our countries,” he said.
Lieutenant-General Aliyev said there were real opportunities to have the Azerbaijan-France trade increased, and stressed the importance of maximum usage of the existing potential for that.
He added that involvement of French companies in both oil- and non-oil sector in Azerbaijan has a positive impact on development of trade and economic relations between the countries.
Aydin Aliyev pointed out the role of the two counties’ customs bodies in expansion of these relations.
He let the Ambassador know that Baku will host an international conference on circulation of counterfeit medicines in February 2006, adding he would be glad to see his French colleagues as well as representatives of French drug manufacturers attending the event.
Ambassador Bernard Amaudric Du Chaffaut said Azerbaijan and France have good prospects of cooperation. He expressed satisfaction at the fact that his country takes the third place in making investments in Azerbaijan, and promised to do his best to further development of bilateral relations, and be closely involved in cooperation between the two countries’ customs bodies.
Lieutenant-General Aydin Aliyev and Ambassador Bernard Amaudric Du Chaffaut also exchanged on a number of other issues of mutual interest.
