After the signing ceremony, heads of GUAM member countries made statements and gave a press conference. It was announced that according to the organization’s Charter, a four-level (heads of state, foreign ministers, national coordinators and permanent representatives) Council and permanent secretariat are planned to be established. The organization’s Headquarter with permanent representatives from each member country will be located in Kiev. Journalists were informed that a protocol on establishment of a free trade zone uniting the four countries had been signed, as well. It, reportedly, will foster economic development of the member counties, and help with attraction of investments and opening new jobs there.
It was also announced that President of Azerbaijan had been elected as Secretary General of the Organization. This fact was valued as an recognition of Azerbaijan’s economic progress and the country’s achievements in the international arena. Chairmanship of the organization will be on a rotation basis.
Then, the heads of states responded to questions from journalists.
After the press conference, the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia attended a presentation ceremony of postal stamps issued on the occasion of the Summit.
The summit-meeting of the GUAM member states ended.
