Last times some media organs referring to General Charles Wald, the Deputy Commander, Headquarters U.S. European Command, stated that during his visit to Azerbaijan there was reached an agreement on placing of a US military base in the Republic, chief of press service of the Defense Ministry colonel Ramiz Malikov said.

“I decisively state that the information does not correspond reality. In the meeting between colonel-general Safar Abiyev and general Charles Wald, such an item was not focused.

Discussed were the issues of strategic partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United States.

At the end of his visit, regarding similar question at the news conference General Wald held at the International Press Center in Baku, he said: “I state to put an end to the rumors – we are not going to place neither temporary nor permanent bases”.
