The International Amsterdam-Beijing motor race of antique cars will pass through the territory of Azerbaijan.

Initiators of this unique Great Silk Road rally were Ian Vermeer, well-known businessman from the Netherlands, and the chairman of the “Classic Car Endurance Rally” Organizing Committee.

Taking start from Amsterdam, the caravan of unique cars will pass through the territory of fourteen countries and end in Beijing 13 august 2006. The inhabitants from the Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and China will be witnesses of this unique motor race.

Within a month, more than hundred antique cars will cross through two continents and get nearly 17,5 thousand kilometers.

Ian Vermeer described this competition as “a unique and exotic one, also mentioned that there will be felt unique rivalry, friendship and thirst of adventure”. Amsterdam and Beijing cities, and also the Ministry of Economy of the Netherlands support realization of this project.
