International Press Institute`s Executive Director visits SOCAR headquarters
Baku, November 4 (AZERTAC).Executive Director of the International Press Institute Alison Bethel McKenzie has visited Azerbaijan`s State Oil Company, SOCAR. She met SOCAR`s staff members, and told them of the goals of her Baku visit. Bethel McKenzie said it was planned to organize an international conference in Baku, entitled “Oil, gas and the media”, next year.
SOCAR`s vice president Khalig Mammadov highlighted Azerbaijan`s achievements in oil and gas industry. He said Azerbaijan was interested in promoting its successes on the global scale, adding “we want foreign media representatives to come to Azerbaijan and see everything with their own eyes”.
Mammadov said the modern history of Azerbaijan`s oil was founded by national leader Heydar Aliyev who signed the Contract of the Century in 1994 with the world`s leading energy giants.
Mammadov also touched upon the “Oil, gas and the media” conference, proposing to hold it next September.
