‘Iran attaches special importance to relations with Azerbaijan’
Baku, November 7, AZERTACIranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi has said his country attached special importance to relations with Azerbaijan as he met with the country`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov.
The Iranian Minister said President Ilham Aliyev`s visit to Tehran gave a push to the development of bilateral ties.
Mahmud Vaezi said Iran supports Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity, and stressed the importance of returning refugees and IDPs to their lands.
They noted the significance of meetings of the two countries` presidents in terms of the development of bilateral relations. They hailed the current state of bonds between Azerbaijan and Iran.
Mr. Mammadyarov stressed the importance of developing relations which based on mutually beneficial cooperation, adding friendship and partnership between the two countries contributed to strengthening regional peace and prosperity.
Touching upon the regional issues, Minister Mammadyarov said Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan was a main threat to the development of the region.
He said Armenia must first withdraw its troops from the occupied Azerbaijani territories for the settlement of the conflict.
They also exchanged views on cooperation within the Joint Intergovernmental Commission and development of a legal framework.
