Izmir hosts another event marking 40th twinning anniversary with Baku

The Days of Azerbaijan, currently underway in Izmir, Türkiye, to mark the 40th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between Baku and Izmir, continue with a rich program.
As part of the celebrations, an event was organized by the Izmir Azerbaijan Association (IZAZDER), gathering Rashad Mammadov, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Türkiye, Vedat Yılmaz, Governor of Izmir’s Menemen district, IZAZDER members, and public figures.
The meeting underscored the importance of the agreement on twinning relations between Baku and Izmir, signed on April 29, 1986.
In his remarks, IZAZDER Chairman Parviz Altay stressed the significance of passing on the spirit of "one nation, two states" to future generations. He also paid tribute to National Leader Heydar Aliyev and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, highlighting their crucial role in shaping the vision of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
The event proceeded with a panel discussion marking the 103rd anniversary of Heydar Aliyev.
Addressing the panel, Ambassador Rashad Mammadov and Professor Vafa Gurban underscored Heydar Aliyev’s major contributions to establishing relations between the two countries, grounded in strong ties and elevated to the level of a close strategic partnership.
The Azerbaijani diplomat described the defense industry, green energy, and digital transformation as key areas of bilateral cooperation.
The event continued with an artistic program.
