Japan government eases access to medical services in Azerbaijan`s Sabirabad region
Baku, September 14 (AZERTAC). A Hand-over Ceremony of the Project for “Construction of Medical point in Yolchubeyli Village of Sabirabad Region”, which was implemented within the framework of “Grassroots and Human Security Grant Assistance Program” of the Government of Japan, was held in Yolchubeyli Village of Sabirabad region.
The Ceremony was attended by Mr. Kotaro Matsuzawa and Ms. Hideko Ono, Chiefs of Economic Affairs and Economic Cooperation department of the Embassy of Japan, Mr.Nazim Ismayilov, Head of Executive Committee of Sabirabad region, Mr. Alifaga Nadirov, Head department of Sabirabad region.
The contract for the aforementioned project was signed between the Embassy of Japan and “Progress” Social Research Public Union on March 15, 2011. The total sum of the contract for the said project signed between the Embassy of Japan and “Progress” Social Research Public Union is $ 98, 957. The project aims at improving access to medical services for the residents of Yolchubeyli Village as well as surrounding villages. More than 12,000 people will have benefit from the project.
“Grassroots and Human Security Grant Assistance Program” support projects applied by municipalities, medical institutions, and NGOs, aiming directly at the improvement of living standards of Azerbaijani people. Such projects might be implemented in the field of poverty reduction, social protection, infrastructure, public health and increase of incomes. The total number of projects implemented in Azerbaijan including this time is 140, and the amount is $ 10, 302, 159.
The total amount of Japan`s Official Development Assistance provided for the Republic of Azerbaijan is over $ 1, 1 billion, covering a wide range of areas such as improvement of economic infrastructure, agricultural and social sectors, cultural field as well as human capacity development.
