MEASLES- RUBELLA VACCINATION CAMPAIGN SET FOR FEBRUARY 27- MARCH 7
The Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the United States and Rastropovich-Vishnevskaya Foundation will conduct the countrywide measles and rubella (MR) vaccination campaign from February 27 - March 7.
The total cost of the project -the first in the Caucasian region - is $3mln 100 thousand.
The campaign, to be conducted according to the strategic plan launched in 2002 by the WHO Regional Office for Europe to eliminate measles and prevent congenital rubella infection, envisages vaccination of more than 2 mln people in Azerbaijan (aged 7-23 in the country, while 7-29 in capital Baku).
The vaccination campaign will involve 4824 medical workers.
