Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov participated in the Ninth international "Microsoft Government Leaders Forum Europe 2006”, ended in Lisbon, Portugal, press service of the Ministry said.

In the frameworks of the Forum, held under the auspices of Microsoft Corporation, Azeri Minister Ali Abbasov met with the regional leaders of the Microsoft Corporation as well as Director-General and Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates to agree with him on establishment of the Corporation’s representative office in Azerbaijan, which will be the first in Transcaucasia.

The Azerbaijani Minister held discussions with the State Administration Minister of Bulgaria Nikolay Vassilev, Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education of Portugal Jose Mariano Gago, Hungarian Minister of Informatics and Communications Kalman Kovacs and Minister of Science and Technology of Bosnia and Herzegovina Fuad TURALIC on the reforms and ongoing work done in the field of communications and information technologies (CIT) as well as perspectives of boosting the bilateral relations in this sector.

Ali Abbasov also met with Sir Howard Davis, Director of the London School of Economics to explore the ways of training of high technology economists.
