MILLI MAJLIS CHAIRMAN MEETS WITH IRANIAN AMBASSADOR
The Speaker dwelt on the history of the friendly and neighborly relations between Iran and Azerbaijan, and expressed hope for their steady development in the future. Recalling the visits to Iran by national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev, Oktay Asadov noted that the documents signed as a result of the talks are playing an important role in broadening and strengthening bilateral cooperation. Taking the advantage of the existing conditions, our parliaments will contribute to strengthening ties between the two nations.
On behalf of the Islamic Consultative Assembly’s Chairman Gholam-Ali Haddad Adel and on his own behalf, Ambassador Afshar Suleymani congratulated Ogtay Asadov on his election as Chairman of the Milli Majlis and presented him a letter of the Iranian Speaker.
The Diplomat said that Iran wishes prosperity to friendly and neighboring Azerbaijan. Iranian observers monitored 6 November elections to Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan and announced them as completely democratic and transparent.
Mr. A. Suleymani stressed the importance of mutual visits for development of bilateral relations and positively assessed the setting up in the Milli Majlis an Azerbaijan-Iran friendship group. The Ambassador noted that President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Iran resulted in reaching an agreement on natural gas delivery from Iran to Nakhchivan, which is scheduled to begin next week.
