On the eve of the World Tourism Day, the first national movie festival, dedicated to tourism is to be held in Baku. Ministries of Youth, Sport and Tourism and Culture, Fund of friends of culture of Azerbaijan and independent TV company 215 KL are among organizers of the event. The festival is being held within the framework of the State Tourism Development Program in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2002-2005, tourism department, head of the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Tourism Natiq Mamedov said at the news conference on August 29.

The main aim of the festival is to select best works in documentary film making, commercials and multimedia production, dedicated to nature of Azerbaijan, its tourist potential. The winners will be the main basis in advertising and propaganda of the activities directed to attraction of foreign tourists to Azerbaijan.

Some 55 works of different TV companied, and regional among them, design studios, advertising agencies have already applied for participation. The jury, under chairmanship of a well-known director Eldar Kuliyev will watch movies between September 10 and 20. The films have been separated in 6 nominations - documentary, ethnographic, TV program, commercial, multimedia production, screenplay of a commercial. The awarding ceremony will be held on September 26.

Participants of the international conference “tourist opportunities in the regions of Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization” which is to start on September 25 in Baku will attend the awarding ceremony. Heads of governmental organizations, working in the sphere of tourism and experts of 11 countries, as well as the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization Francesco Frangialli are expected to take part in the work of the conference.

On September 27, on the World Tourism Day, an exhibition of tourist companies of Azerbaijan is to open in the Europe Grand Hotel, a concert program and exhibition of Azerbaijani dishes will be held in the National Park.
