NATIONAL HOLIDAY OF ROMANIA MARKED IN HOTEL “EUROPE”
The embassy of Romania in Azerbaijan hosted a function December 1 in hotel “Europe” on the occasion of the national holiday of Romania, National day. Having greeted the visitors, Romanian ambassador Nikolae Ureke said that the history of this holiday dates back to 1918 when four regions of Romania united and established the present state. Ambassador pinpointed the present intensive development of the country and Romania’s joining NATO and stressed the rapid development of ties between Romania and Azerbaijan over the recent years, in particular, after President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Romania in 2004.
Deputy Milli Majlis Chairman Ziyafet Askerov conveyed President Ilham Aliyev’s felicitations on the remarkable day, his wishes for peace, harmony and prosperity of the people of Romania. He dwelt upon the history of traditionally friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Romania and noted that political, economic and cultural ties between the two nations will further develop. The function was attended by Azerbaijani officials, foreign ambassadors and the public.
