New head of OSCE Baku Office assumes post
Baku, August 15 (AZERTAC). Ambassador Koray Targay of Turkey has taken up his post as the new head of the OSCE Office in Baku.
"The OSCE Office in Baku has established a fruitful co-operation with the government of Azerbaijan, political parties and civil society, which is essential to improving the country’s implementation of its OSCE commitments," Targay said in an OSCE statement.
"I am looking forward to supporting the government and civil society members in their efforts in all three OSCE dimensions.”
Prior to his appointment, Targay served as Turkish ambassador to the Czech Republic. A career diplomat, he has served in a number of posts, including in Switzerland, Syria, Canada, Germany and Greece.
He was also Turkey's ambassador to Malaysia.
Targay succeeds his fellow countrymen Ambassador Bilge Cankorel whose tenure ended this July.
