NEW SHAMAKHY-GUBA HIGHWAY TO BE BUILT
The design of the highway linking the towns of Shamkhy and Guba and capital cost documents have been prepared. According to Deputy Minister of Transport, the Ministry is going to select the company, which will prepare the draft project.
Korean Pyunghwa Engineering Consultants Ltd has prepared the feasibility study of the Shamakhy-Guba highway .
The 105.4-km Shamakhy-Guba road will be 150 km shorter than the existing Baku-Guba highway. The new road will make central and western regions closer and shorten travel time for international trade flow via Georgia.
The new road will provide a direct link between Shamakhy and Guba.
About 24 bridges and 3 tunnels are scheduled to be built along the road.
