New `Up` bracelet by Jawbone to promote healthy living
Baku, October 19 (AZERTAC). In a world where obesity is on the rise, and sleep and healthy, homemade meals are an inconvenience, it`s certainly no surprise that health has become a serious issue. New technologies, programs and classes related to a balanced lifestyle have become incredibly popular, and the industry is now one of the biggest in the world.
A new bracelet called `Up` has been launched by Jawbone in an effort to help people stay healthy and watch their weight. The wristband interacts with smartphones, and tracks its wearer`s sleep patterns, eating habits and activity. The information is sent to the smartphone and processes, providing the wearer with tips, information and advice. Details can be added manually to the smartphone app, by both text and photos.
Advice ranges from exercise to meal ideas. For example, if a person is lacking sleep, the app might recommend a high-protein breakfast and an extra glass of water.
Jawbone, the bracelet and app creator, is known for the development of Bluetooth headsets and speakers. The Up project cost $120 million to develop.
Travis Bogard of Jawbone said “the CDC says that for the first time in history, lifestyle diseases such as diabetes are killing more people than communicable diseases. We`re trying to solve that problem. We look at the products out there, and there`s so much friction around wearing those devices all the time. But if you wear something like Up all day, there`s all sorts of interesting things we can plug into our software.”
