PACE announces fall session`s draft agenda
Paris, September 11 (AZERTAC). The Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has announced a draft agenda of the fall session.
The draft agenda does not include an issue on Azerbaijan.
The opening of the session will feature an examination of new credentials, election of vice-presidents of the Assembly, changes in the membership of committees and adoption of the agenda.
In the first day of the session, the participants will hear a progress report of the Bureau of the Assembly and the Standing Committee, communication from the Committee of Ministers to the Parliamentary Assembly, presented by Kostyantyn Gryshchenko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Chairman of the Committee of Ministers.
During the session`s second day, the participants will discuss a request for Partner for Democracy status with the Parliamentary Assembly submitted by the Palestinian National Council and the impact of the Lisbon Treaty on the Council of Europe.
The following days of the session will feature discussions on the activities of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in 2010-2011, co-operation between the Council of Europe and the emerging democracies in the Arab world, functioning of democratic institutions in Armenia.
The fall session will also be addressed by President of the Palestinian National Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography, Najat Maalla M`jid and Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, Patricia Espinosa Cantellano.
