PACE Standing Committee praises Azerbaijan`s parliament elections
Ankara, November 13 (AZERTAC). Parliamentarians who observed parliament elections in Azerbaijan and Bosnia-Herzegovina, discussing the item at the gathering of the Standing Committee of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Antalya stated that in both countries the elections were democratic, with the participation of opposition parties and that there were not serious irregularities or confrontation in the voting process. Speakers especially stressed high organization of the elections by the Azerbaijan Central Election Commission.
In his opening remarks, Chairman of the PACE Movlud Chavushoglu stated that Turkey presiding the Organization and its Ministerial Committee fully supports the process of reforms in PACE. Further, the other priority for Ankara is the reforms in the European Human Rights Court, Mr. Chavushoglu said.
Addressing the meeting, foreign minister of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu stated that the European Union and the Council of Europe should carry our large-scale policy to create security zone around Europe. According to him, Turkey is a part of Europe and will actively take part in reforms.
Responding to the questions of parliamentarians the Turkish foreign minister disclosed the position of official Ankara in regard with Cyprus, Iraq and the Balkans.
