“The main goal of the public service is to create efficient, responsible and democratic governance in the country, strengthen effectiveness and increase transparency of the governmental bodies, including in satisfying the concerns and needs of the citizens,” President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said in a congratulatory message to the country’s public servants on their professional holiday.

“The formation and development of the public service system in the independent Republic of Azerbaijan goes under the name of our national leader Heydar Aliyev. It was Heydar Aliyev’s return to political power that made it possible to overcome the chaos and anarchy in the country, restore order and sustainable public administration and begin the process of state building,” the President said.

“Important steps have been taken over the past years for the work of the governing bodies to meet the demands of the times, create high quality personnel and transform the ministries and committees to the bodies following a common public policy. Necessary measures have been taken to eliminate parallel structures and official circumlocution, and increase transparency and responsibility in the work of the central government’s and executive bodies,” the President continued.

“Regardless of his post and responsibility, a public servant must remember that he is a servant of the people, and that serving the people and care about them is his major duty. Other requirement for the public servants is that they must be well informed about the processes taking place in the world, have modern views and knowledge of information technologies and methods of democratic governance. All this will allow us to build a system of public administration, which will meet the requirements of the democratic and civil society,” President Ilham Aliyev said.
