PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV ADDRESSES NATO PA SPRING SESSION
The address covered Azerbaijan’s relations with other countries of the region, rich hydrocarbon resources of the Caspian Sea, wide-ranging democratic reforms being implemented in the country, liberalization of economy and development of non-oil sector.
The President said the Azeri oil, which reached Ceyhan terminal on May 28 will soon be delivered to European and world markets.
The Azerbaijani leader especially emphasized Azerbaijan’s participation in NATO operations, and the country’s role in ensuring security in the world.
He also reminded of the Armenian occupation of 20% of the Azerbaijani territories, the problem of over a million refugees and IDPs pointing out that Nagorno-Karabakh is an integral part of Azerbaijan from both historical and legal standpoints.
Noting that territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was recognized by all states except Armenia, the President said that in the occupied lands Armenians destroyed all historical and cultural monuments of the Azerbaijani people. He especially stressed that aggressive Armenia poses serious threat to peace in the South Caucasus.
President Ilham Aliyev also answered questions from the audience.
