PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV CONGRATULATES PRESIDENT GEORGE BUSH ON INDEPENDENCE DAY
He said in the message that the efforts being made by the United States to ensure peace, stability and security around the world win great approval, and that the country’s resolute stance and leading role in the international community’s fight against global threats and challenges is praiseworthy in every respect.
The President also said that close cooperation between the two countries, which are strategic partners, is going on successfully, in particular, in fighting terrorism and providing energy security.
“The United States’ support in development of oil and gas fields in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea, and creation of transnational infrastructure to deliver energy to the world markets, is extremely important to us. We also appreciate the United States’ interest and support in democratization of our society,” he said.
The President described the United States’ efforts - as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group - towards peaceful resolution of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as a manifestation of the country’s goodwill, and expressed hopefulness that these efforts will lead to some progress soon.
