PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVES U.S. CONGRESSMEN DARREL ISSA AND LORETTA SANCHEZ
Congressman Darrel Issa said he was pleased of visiting Baku. He also highly praised the October 12 ceremony of commissioning and linefill of the Georgian section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline noting it took place at very proper time for the countries of this geo-politically and strategically important region.
President Ilham Aliyev described the Azerbaijan-US cooperation in various fields including that in energy and other sectors as successfully developing, and expressed satisfaction with the current state of the bilateral relations.
Noting the ceremony of commissioning of the Heydar Aliyev Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export oil pipeline was very well organized, the Azerbaijani leader called the project a good example of regional cooperation.
Mr. Darrell expressed satisfaction with the current state of the Azerbaijan-US relationship especially emphasizing the importance of the support Azerbaijan provided to the United States in its fight against international terrorism. He also highly praised President Ilham Aliyev’s efforts towards maintaining of stability in the region. In the end, the Congressmen mentioned the importance of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.
