PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV VISITS AGRICULTURAL FAIR IN BAKU NARIMANOV DISTRICT
The President wondered about the range, quality and prices of some sorts of goods offered to consumers, and talked to buyers.
They warmly welcomed the head of state, expressed satisfaction at the event, and thanked him for his care about ordinary people. “Mr. President, prices have dropped significantly after such fairs were arranged by your order. Everything is available in abundance. We all are satisfied. Thank you very much,” they said.
President Ilham Aliyev thanked for the warm words and said:
- I’ve come to see how things are going. You know, rise in prices concerns me a lot. Indeed, they say, markets offer everything, but not everybody can afford it. I mean pensioners can’t, poor people can’t. From now on, such fairs should be arranged in a regular manner. The most important thing is that the prices should not jump after we leave. There should be constant control, do watch the prices do not go up.
Today, we have got increased possibilities, salaries and pensions, and purchasing capacity, but who does benefit from this most?! It’s sellers of these products - they raise the prices as the salaries rise. It turns out that we increase salaries for them to earn more? This is wrong, isn't it? That’s why there should be serious control.
President Ilham Aliyev toured various sections of the fair, tasted a few kinds of fruit, wondered where the agricultural products had been delivered from, and about available sorts of fish, and stressed the necessity to store products perishable in hot weather in refrigerators.
The Head of State talked with suppliers of the products.
The President gave strict instructions to heads of relevant bodies to keep constant control over quality and prices of the agricultural products.
Such trade fairs are regularly arranged in various districts of Baku in the wake of the meeting held at the Cabinet of Ministers in connection with steep rise of prices for agricultural products in the markets.
