On June 27, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited the library of the Presidential Directorate, which, at the initiative of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, was founded in 2003 on the basis of the country’s two largest libraries: former Central City Library named after Lenin and the library of the former House of Political Education.

Touring the library President Ilham Aliyev was informed that it contains collection of rare publications issued in various languages in 18th, 19th and early 20th century, as well as 230 magazines, newspapers and other periodicals published in both Azerbaijan and abroad.

Having been acquainted with bibliographic service and reading rooms, the President wondered about the library’s electronic database. He was informed that the database contains speeches, reports, addresses and interviews of the National leader Heydar Aliyev issued between 1993 and 2003; speeches, addresses and interviews of President Ilham Aliyev since 2003, as well as materials reflecting political, social and cultural life in the Republic.

President Ilham Aliyev gave some recommendations on enriching the library’s database and strengthening its material and technical basis.
