PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV VISITS TOMB OF NATIONAL LEADER HEYDAR ALIYEV
It has been two years since the tomb of our immortal President at the Alley of Honors served as a sacred place of pilgrimage for our people.
Early in the morning on December 12th, 2005, the day to mark the 2nd anniversary of passing away of Azerbaijani people’s genial son, residents of Baku, regions and towns of the country, as well as representatives of various companies and organizations, and numerous foreign guests of the capital arrived at the Alley of Honors to pay respect to the memory of the genial son of Azerbaijan, lay wreaths and flowers at his tomb, and pray for his soul.
The accomplishments achieved in all spheres of the people’s life during the latest period of the history of Azerbaijan go under the name of the outstanding political figure and wise statesman Heydar Aliyev.
It was this genial person who in early 90s of the last century saved Azerbaijan, when plunged into chaos and anarchy the country was on the brink of an abyss, established social and political stability, and put it on the path of development and progress.
Heydar Aliyev developed the strategy for building relationship with not only countries of the region but also with the world’s leading ones, and laid the foundation for realization of regional and global-scale projects, in which our country has been playing a leading role.
This is thanks to which Azerbaijan’s relations with the world’s leading countries were brought up to the level of strategic partnership, and the country itself turned into a place of implementing global economic projects.
Today, the course of political, economic and social development determined by Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijan, the country, which already occupies its worthy place in the international arena, is continued with confidence and resolutely by President Ilham Aliyev.
On December 12, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and members of his family arrived at the Alley of Honors to commemorate the national Leader Heydar Aliyev. The President laid a wreath at his tomb. Head of the Caucasian Muslims Administration hajji Allahshukur Pashazadeh said a prayer for the souls of the national leader.
Members of the Presidential family and relatives of the late laid flowers on the tomb.President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his family members also laid flowers at the tombs of outstanding ophthalmologist, Academician Zarifa Aliyeva, well-known public figure Aziz Aliyev and honored worker of science, Prof. Tamerlan Aliyev.
Present at the commemoration ceremony were heads of the Milli Majlis, Cabinet of Ministers, Presidential Office, as well as members of parliament, ministers, chairpersons of committees, heads of companies and departments, foreign ambassadors, heads of religious confessions and representatives of the public.
