PRIVATE MEETING OF PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV AND OSCE ACTING CHAIRMAN SOLOMON PASSY
Warmly greeting the esteemed guest and noting that he was pleased with his visit, President Ilham Aliyev updated him on the positive results of the conducted reforms in Country, on the ongoing democratic processes, stressing that the major line is integration to Europe, and that we shall continue this line in the coming years as well. The President also spoke of the importance of Azerbaijan’s participation in the large-scale international projects.
Mr. Solomon Passy gave a high assessment to the works done in the Republic and the process of integration to Europe, noting that every kind of assistance would be rendered to Azerbaijan to integrate to the OSCE member states.
In the course of conversation, also was focused the painful problem of Azerbaijan - the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorny Karabakh conflict, stressed the necessity of intensification of efforts of the OSCE and co-chairs of the Minsk Group for peaceful settlement of the conflict. It was expressed a confidence that the problem threatening the entire South Caucasus region would find its quick and fair resolution in the frame of international law. At the same time, it was in particular stressed that settlement of the conflict is possible with the condition of restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and returning of refugees and IDPs to their homes.
Also were exchanged views on a number of other issues of mutual interests.
