REFURBISHMENT OF ‘ISRAFIL HUSEYNOV’ PIPE-LAY SHIP REMAINS ON SCHEDULE
The “Israfil Huseynov” ship, the biggest pipe-lay vessel in the Caspian, has been temporarily taken out of service for refurbishment for the first time over the past seven years, State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) said. The vessel is able to lay 2-2.5 km long pipeline operating at a sea depth of 300 meters.
The first stage of refurbishment of the vessel was completed by the Caspian Sea Oil Fleet Shipyard in September this year.
The Israfil Huseynov pipe layer was brought to Baku in 1989. The ship laid oil and gas pipelines on Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli and Shakhdeniz fields. This year the vessel has laid the 58-km-long pipeline on “Yuri Korchagin” field in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea.
