RELATIONS BETWEEN SPECIAL SERVICE BODIES OF AZERBAIJAN AND RUSSIA DISCUSSED
On October 20, the delegation has visited the Alley of Honors and revered memory of the nationwide leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev and laid wreath on his tomb. They also laid flowers on the grave of the renowned ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
The same day, the delegation has visited the Alley of Martyrs to honor the brave sons and daughters of Azerbaijan who fell for sovereignty and territorial integrity of Motherland.
Afterwards, the minister of security of Azerbaijan general-lieutenant Eldar Mahmudov has met with the delegation led by the Director of the Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Army General Sergey Lebedev.
In the meeting, Eldar Mahmudov informed on the reforms in the Republic conducted under the guidance of President Ilham Aliyev, as well as on realization of important world-scale projects and the works done for maintenance of stability and safety. The Minister updated on the results of the latest investigations the staff of Ministry conducted to battle with criminals, and also terrorism.
Eldar Mahmudov also spoke of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict and its sequences, as well as combat against illegal migration, drug traffic.
Expressing gratitude for warm reception and hospitality, the Director of the Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Army General Sergey Lebedev said he was pleased with the visit, stressing assurance of use and strengthening of the cooperation between the intelligence services of two countries. This cooperation should be continued in an expedient way, he underlined, noting the necessity of intensification of the mutual links and exchange of data in this field.
In the meeting, also were discussed a number of other questions of mutual interest.
