Romanian media highlights importance of Trans-Caspian International Transport Route

Romania’s Mediafax publication has issued an analytical article highlighting the strategic significance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region, as well as the vulnerability of energy and transport infrastructure in Eastern Europe.
The article notes that, in this context, the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route is emerging as an alternative corridor linking Central Asia with Europe, with Azerbaijan acting as one of the route’s major logistics hubs.
“Cargo and energy resources are transported from Kazakhstan across the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan, transiting through Georgia and the Black Sea to Europe,” the article said.
The report described Azerbaijan as not only a transit country but also an energy supplier, thereby contributing significantly to Europe’s energy security, while also increasing its geopolitical and geoeconomic importance.
The article also stressed that the route is of particular importance to Romania, as the country’s oil needs are largely met through imports, with Kazakhstan acting as the main supplier and Azerbaijan serving as an important partner.
