Rome institute to test Sputnik V
Baku, March 21, AZERTAC
The Lazzaro Spallanzani Institute, which specialises in infectious diseases, will begin trials with the Russian Sputnik V vaccine shortly, Lazio region president Nicola Zingaretti told the press in Rome.
"In a few days, a first agreement will be signed with the Spallanzani Institute for a scientific trial with the Sputnik vaccine, obviously awaiting the formal authorization of the EMA regarding the study on variants," Zingaretti said.
"This is another piece of good news that allows us to take a leap forward with respect to the need to supply vaccines at this moment," he added.
Rome and Moscow signed a deal to produce the Sputnik V in Italy, set to launch in July with 10 million doses.
