Secretary General hails Azerbaijan’s successful presidency of International Transport Forum
Leipzig, May 8, AZERTAC
“I remember that Azerbaijan started its presidency with a lot of ambitions and good plans. But today, we actually achieved a lot, but up to this point, it was not easy. So, we really struggled a lot to build consensus with member countries, but finally, everything ended very positively and fruitfully. So, I'm very happy,” said Young Tae Kim, Secretary General of the International Transport Forum (ITF), as he hailed Azerbaijan’s successful presidency of the ITF.
Noting that important decisions were adopted during Azerbaijan’s presidency of the ITF, the Secretary general stated: “And then I know that Azerbaijan was really interested in Middle Corridor development and also digital and urban transport system. And then two policy recommendations were adopted, unanimous support, and then it was a really good achievement.
And also, this time, we had three new member countries under Azerbaijan presidency, because last year we didn't have any new members, but this year, three members at one time. And I think that means something very positive. So, overall, I evaluate that Azerbaijan presidency was a really successful presidency. And I am very happy about that.”
“And taking this opportunity, once again, I really want to thank the Government of Azerbaijan and the country's Minster of Digital Development and Transport, who really supported ITF platform. And then today and yesterday, I received a lot of positive feedbacks from participants. And then everyone was really happy, and I'm happy, and we are all happy,” he added.
