SEMINAR “BALKAN-CAUCASUS” HELD IN MACEDONIA
Chief of the International Relations sector of the ombudswoman’s office of Azerbaijan Republic Munir Mammadov partook in the seminar on the topic “Balkans-Caucasus” organized by the Community Development Institute, Council of Europe (COE) and Soros Foundation in Ohrid, Macedonia. The seminar was held under the COE Democratic Leadership Program. Some 30 young representatives from the South Caucasus and Balkan states were involved in the event.
During the seminar, South Caucasus representatives delivered presentations on the countries they represent and held discussions. The discussions mainly revolved around the Caucasian conflicts, in particular, Nagorno-Karabakh problem.
The seminar participants heard reports on social changes in the transition countries, intercultural dialogue, Europe integration process and relations among ethnic groups and mediation skills
It is noteworthy that regional centers under the Balkan-Caucasus Program are believed to open in both regions in 2006.
