SHEIKULISLAM OF CAUCASUS MOSLEMS MEETS WITH USA AMBASSADOR TO AZERBAIJAN
Pashazade warmly welcomed the guest, wished her successes, and expressed confidence that she would use all efforts for quick settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict peacefully.
In turn, Anne Derse has thanked for warm reception, noting, that the USA gives great value to Azerbaijan as a political partner representing big geo-strategic value in region. She emphasized, that visit of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Washington was a historical one. A. Derse especially noted, that for the world - Azerbaijan is a model of religious tolerance, and its wide experience of work with the Islamic countries is an example.
Answering the question of A. Derse on ‘how to achieve success in the Near East’, the Sheikh has said, that the ‘Islamic world is diverse. It is impossible to approach equally to the Arabian countries, Turkey or Indonesia. It is necessary to study traditions, customs, and culture of each country and listen to their opinion. And it is impossible to divide the peoples into national and religious groups.
A. Pashazade reminded, that tolerance in the country had existed always, at the state level its basis has been founded by the nationwide leader of Azerbaijan people Heydar Aliyev, and nowadays President Ilham Aliyev continues this.
Head of the Clerical Office of the Caucasus Moslems has expressed concern for situation in the Near East, underlining, that in the frame of the Islamic Conference on behalf of the Moslems of region he has prepared an Address, which expresses requirement to stop war in Lebanon.
At the meeting, also discussed were the questions representing mutual interest.
