SHIPPING OPERATIONS INCREASE BY 13.8%

Shipping operations at the Baku International Trade Seaport reached 2.4 million tons in January-April 2006, up by 13.8% from a year ago.

According to the State Stats Committee, goods in transit constitute 81% of the overall amount of cargo shipped. The volume of goods imported rose 2.3 times while that of exported goods surged 3.2 times.
