Siyavush Heydarov: Biased report from U.S. Department of State causes outrage
Baku, January 11, AZERTAC
“At times, it is inappropriate to associate global conflicts with religion. On the contrary, all religions advocate for peace. The politicization of religion serves the interests of certain states,” said Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Religious Associations of Azerbaijan Siyavush Heydarov as he addressed a conference on “Politicization of religion: harmful effects”.
The Deputy Chairman of the State Committee emphasized that the priority should be currently given to issues related to the regulation of inter-religious relations and promotion of progressive ideas. “Azerbaijan maintains complete freedom of religion in its religious policy. The biased report from the U.S. Department of State causes outrage. Because it has nothing to do with reality. This country is attempting to create chaos under the guise of religion.” He highlighted the absence of issues regarding the registration of religious communities in Azerbaijan.
Siyavush Heydarov pointed out that the bias against Azerbaijan will bring nothing good to those who exhibit such an attitude. The Deputy Chairman of the State Committee called on religious minority communities operating in Azerbaijan, stressing the importance of solidarity and vigilance against forces conducting an anti-Azerbaijani campaign.
