STATE MINISTER OF GEORGIA MEETS MESKHET TURKS IN AZERBAIJAN
Visiting state minister of Georgia, chairman of the Repatriation Commission on issues of the population deported in 40s of the past century Georgi Khaindrava on 31 January has visited the Saatli region of Republic to meet with the Meskhet Turks settled there. The guest informing on the goals of visit, said his country makes consecutive efforts to return the compatriots to their homelands.
The Minister noted that a special Commission had been established to organize return of the Meskhet Turks to their homes. In return case, the Meskhets will be provided with certain guarantee. The international organizations will also render assistance in this question, the Minister said.
Representatives of the Meskhet Turks reminded the historical injustice connected to their deportation, dwelt the aspects of settlement of the problem.
Ambassador of Georgia to Azerbaijan Gumberizde accompanied the Georgian state minister.
