Swiss architects tout their new Ecco concept RV
Baku, November 1 (AZERTAC). NAU - a Zurich, Switzerland-based multidisciplinary collective of designers and architects - are touting their new concept aluminium and glass bodied Ecco Recreational Vehicle (RV). Slightly shorter in length than the original VW T1 split-screen camper van - but a little broader in the beam - this new tear drop designed camper van is a zero-emission, all-electric, rechargeable EV with a top speed of 90mph.
The Ecco RV is driven just like a conventional vehicle but when you arrive at your destination the concertina roof expands vertically to reveal an enclosed entry way with staircase, a ground floor bathroom (with shower & toilet) and a second storey sleeping loft. Photovoltaic cells are built into both the expandable membrane and a section of the glass roof above the main windscreen - thus acting like a solar sail.
The cabin of the vehicle includes the main living area - with 4 seats that can be rotated, folded, or reconfigured as desired - along with a small cook top camping stove, sink, and an extra fold down bed.
Switzerland is a country renowned for its army knives, chocolate and clocks but it’s hard to decide whether this stylish, aerodynamic Ecco RV is really on a par with design classics like the Airstream travel trailer or the VW “Splitty” camper van. Maybe it’s just plain cuckoo. I’ll let you be the judge.
