TO BRING PROVOCATEURS TO COURT
Felix Tsertsvadze, writer and publicist, living in the United States, native of Azerbaijan, has sent to AZERTAC a letter in which he states the attitude to publications in the American newspaper "Vi Novom Svete", connected with Khojaly events and as a whole supporting false Armenian propagation. Below we present the text of this letter.
This history has begun still in July 2004. In a phone conversation with Mr. Michael Gusev, the editor-in-chief of the American Russian-speaking newspaper "Vi Novom Svete” (VNS), I tried to punch the wall of arrangement and mutual responsibility of the New York Russian-speaking edition which, publicly or privately, have agreed not to pass on the pages any criticism toqards Armenia and actions of the Armenian lobby. Theme of our telephone conversation was my request to publish on pages "Vi Novom Svete" a refutation on the absurd information of Russian-speaking RTVI channel that during the events in January 1990 in Baku allegedly were lost 250 thousand Armenians. Both Michael Gusev and his assistant Edward Pariants have flatly refused to publish my material.
Now much has changed: the situation is not as previous. Pariants has become a derelict in the newspaper. And Michael Gusev is in a panic. The long-term scornful attitude towards Azerbaijan and its great people has played with them a malicious joke. They have got used to impunity. They could write anything about Azerbaijanis, any lie, which escaped punishment. And suddenly, the photos of the Azerbaijani children killed by Armenians in 1992 in Khojaly. I am convinced, that history with this photo, which these two journalists tried to give out for corpses of the Armenians killed in 1915, has occured not casually, but naturally. This pro-Armenian newspaper acted impudently, cynically and intentionally. Only the headings of the articles tell much: "The Armenian states of America " (June, 8-14, 2007); "Armenians of all countries - unite!" (June 3-9, 2005); "When Jews went to Mecca, Armenians therefrom came back" (June 18-24, 2004); "Sevan is Baikal in Armenian" (June 27 - August 2007); “To get to Armenia not leaving the USA" (June 24-30, 2005), etc.
Gusev`s article "There you are!.." about Khojaly tragedy dated November 16-22, 2007, should not deceive neither the Azerbaijani public, nor the Azerbaijani Diaspora, nor representatives of official Baku in Washington and in New York. Mr. Gusev makes all a fool. Yes, he has broken private embargo and has published a true article about the Armenian crimes on the Azerbaijani lands that before his newspaper never did. But, apologies, at least, should follow recognition of mistakes. And where are they? They are not present! Besides, he writes: "... In number 42 dated October 19-25, 2007, we have inattentively issued this picture with this note..." "Inattentively"? This is just colloquial slang, meaning "during the inconvenient moment". Mr. Gusev does not repent. He simply regrets… wishing to avoid responsibility.
The deal should be carried out to the logic end: Gusev and Pariants should stand before court, and the newspaper "Vi Novom Svete" to pay the penalty. To make a lesson for other provocateurs!
