TO THE FIRST FORUM OF INTELLIGENTSIA OF WORLD AZERBAIJANIS
I cordially welcome You - participants of the First Forum of Intelligentsia of the World Azerbaijanis and wish success to the Forum.
By restoration of the independent statehood our people wished along the history, in Azerbaijan large prospects were opened in the field of socio-economic development, democratic state building and all-round integration to the world community. Expedient policy pursued by the nationwide leader of Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev having preserved the state independence strengthened it much more leading to the way of dynamic development. Establishment of national cohesion in the country had necessary influence on ensuring socio-political stability and speeding up socio-economic development.
Accomplishments the Republic of Azerbaijan gained in the field of independent state construction have always been in focus of our country-fellows living in numerous world countries, encouraged them, having strengthened their national sense and solidarity, thus, cemented their links to our independent state. Establishment of close ties with their historical Motherland, having united around nationwide ideals to maintain independent statehood interests, as well as increase responsibility of the national state for their destiny are the priorities in policy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Currently, national unity of our compatriots and the idea of organization of Azerbaijani Diaspora have been led to high level of state policy, and continuous measures are taken in this field. The First Congress of World Azerbaijanis (November 2001), the Second Congress of World Azerbaijanis (March 2006) had strongly stimulated expansion of the idea of Azerbaijanism containing national-cultural and universal values and basing on sense of adherence to the Azerbaijani state and people among all our country-fellows and compatriots. Creation of more than 300 communities, which unites ten of thousands of our compatriots in numerous world countries and functioning permanently, the strengthening of solidarity among them, is evidence to that.
In modern world, by acquirement of intensive character of the globalization processes, the political, economic and cultural ties have strengthened among the countries, and having benefited from progressive values of numerous peoples, there opened ample opportunities for numerous peoples make their own contributions to the world civilization. The dynamic processes occurring on the globe, technological innovations call each nation to maximally use potential of its development. To hold in such conditions a worthy place in the international community alongside with estimation and gaining universal values it is extremely important protection and enrichment, propagation of national-cultural wealth, progressive traditions. In this sense, alongside with the Azerbaijan Republic our Diaspora will also face important tasks. With confidence I can tell, that the way of the development, which have been passed by the Azerbaijan Diaspora, last years, testifies about its enormous potential. The basic carriers of the given potential are our intelligentsia - men of science, education, culture and art making the organized part of our compatriots, living abroad. The intelligentsia, distinctive with high intellectual level and deep mentality as the leading part of society, possesses opportunities to give correct estimation to processes and carry out mobilization mission. Therefore, our intelligentsia has greater duties and responsibility in cause of the organization of Azerbaijanis of the world, comprehension by our compatriots of their national life, development and propagation of national-cultural values.
Our intelligentsia should also play the important role in maintenance of active participation of the Azerbaijani communities in public, political, economic and cultural life of their countries and establishment of the Azerbaijan lobby.
Representatives of intelligentsia working in various areas should strengthen even more contacts with the men of science and culture, representatives of the public and political organizations of the world, representatives of the state bodies, make consecutive efforts to fully bring up to world community of the truth about Azerbaijan and worthy protection of interests of our people. In particular, it is necessary to use inexhaustible potential of numerous representatives of intelligentsia in the cause of exposure of aggressive plans and ideological diversions of Armenians, propagation at professional level of progressive public idea all over the world.
Currently, the Azerbaijani state, having mobilized its opportunities, has achieved high dynamics of economic, political, social and cultural development, and it is in the center of all transnational projects of region. After completely will function the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and other huge international projects connecting the Europe with Asia, in the economic and geo-politic life of region there will take place serious changes. The Azerbaijan state is to achieve the further development of the reached successes and effectively to use their results for interests of all our people, our compatriots.
