Top 10 Most Expensive Celebrity Divorces
Baku, November 3 (AZERTAC). The CelebrityCafe.com decided to compile a list of Hollywood`s most expensive splits.
10. Michael Douglas and Diandra Douglas When the Wall Street star divorced his first wife, Diandra Douglas, in 2000, Diandra walked away with $45 million of Michael`s cha-ching in her pocket. And 11 years later, she`s still trying to get more money. This past June, a judge denied her a portion of her ex-husband`s Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps earnings and last year she unsuccessfully sued him for half a million dollars.
9. Phil Collins and Orianne Cevey
When the English singer and third wife Orianne Cevey divorced in 2008, Collins had to shell out $46.76 million to his ex-wife. This divorce put Collins`s divorce settlement total at $84 million. Imagine how much larger Lily`s inheritance could have been.
8. Paul McCartney and Heather Mills
A little applause for Britain`s most expensive celebrity divorce. When the Beatles star and model divorced in 2008, Mills walked away with $48.6 million. Considering the fact that she wanted $250 million of McCartney`s fortune, which she claimed totaled $1.6 billion, all she got was a few pretty pennies.
7. James Cameron and Linda Hamilton
The Avatar director and The Terminator actress were married for two years before they divorced in 1999. In the divorce papers, Hamilton cited irreconcilable differences, later explaining she felt abandoned by the director while he was working on Titanic. Well, the $50 million she got from the settlement probably helped her get rid of any emotional baggage.
6. Madonna and Guy Ritchie
Madonna is the only female celebrity on our list who had to pay her man, and unfortunately it was more than the combined totals of settlements #10 and #9. When the two divorced in 2008 (hm...must have been a bad year for celeb marriages), Madonna had to fork over between $76 million and $92 million. The discrepancies come from the values of the couple`s Ashcombe, England home and London pub, which were given to Ritchie.
5. Kevin Costner and Cindy Silva
Oh the high price celebrities pay for infidelity. When the Field of Dreams star and Cindy Silva divorced in 1994, Silva received a whopping $80 million. And while it`s cute that the couple met as students at California State University and were married for 16 years, it just goes to show how fragile celebrity marriages are.
4. Harrison Ford and Melissa Mathison
The Indiana Jones star and his first wife were married for 21 years before divorcing in 2004. The two met on the set of Apocalypse Now and were separated for a brief time in 2000 before coming back together in 2001. The divorce cost Ford $85 million.
3. Steven Spielberg and Amy Irving
Right after Ford comes Indiana Jones director Steven Spielberg, but his settlement was much larger. When Spielberg left Amy Irving for his Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom star Kate Capshaw in 1989, it cost him $100 million. But Speilberg and Capshaw are still married so it looks like that was the best money he spent. Let`s hope he doesn`t have to do it again.
2. Neil Diamond and Marcia Murphey
It cost Neil Diamond half his fortune when he divorced Marcia Murphey in 1994, but he said "she`s worth every penny" of the $150 million he had to give up.
1. Michael Jordan and Juanita Jordan
Drum roll please...the most expensive celebrity divorce cost $168 million and the honor goes to former Bulls star Michael Jordan. The couple`s lawyers said they "mutually and amicably decided to end their 17-year marriage" in a joint statement. After 17 years of marriage, the couple separated in 2006.
