TRANSPORTATION VIA OIL AND GAS PIPELINES ON RISE
Oil-trunk pipelines carried 31.2 million tons of crude of the past eight months of 2008.
Oil export through BTC pipeline constituted four third of overall transportation with 23.5 million tons of crude dispatched from Baku over recent period. In total, the volume of oil transported via the oil pipelines surged by 23.5% year-on-year.
Over the past eight months, gas pipelines transported 7.1 billion cubic meters, 58.9% increase over the 2007 figure. Baku-Tbilisi-Erzerum pipeline hauled 29% of overall volume of gas transported.
