The Turkish city of Izmir will host a series of events from May 2–6 marking the 40th anniversary of its twinning relations with Baku.

Titled “Azerbaijani Days,” the program includes an exhibition opened on April 28 featuring 38 works by Azerbaijani artists, with the official opening ceremony scheduled for May 5.

A concert program will be held on May 2, featuring performances by People’s Artist Alim Gasimov and Honored Artist Fargana Gasimova.

The program also includes events dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of Azerbaijan’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev, as well as “Azerbaijani Cinema Days” as part of the Turan Festival.

The festival will also feature a meeting between business representatives from both countries and will conclude with an artistic program.

The events are jointly organized by the Azerbaijani Consulate General in Istanbul, the Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Türkiye, the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, and the Izmir Azerbaijan Association.

The agreement establishing twinning relations between Baku and Izmir was signed on April 29, 1986.
