Ukraine will chair OSCE in 2013
Baku, November 24 (AZERTAC). Foreign Ministers of OSCE member states unanimously voted Tuesday in Vienna for a resolution on Ukraine`s chairmanship in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in 2013.
The President of Ukraine believes that this decision affirms high appreciation of the achievements of Ukraine in building a democratic society by the international community, as the OSCE is a recognized authority in democratization, freedom of elections and human rights.
The President of Ukraine believes that Ukraine`s chairmanship will provide more opportunities for strengthening security space from Vancouver to Vladivostok, as the Organization is the center of debate on the future of European security architecture.
"Chairmanship of Ukraine in the OSCE also expands its capabilities to protect national interests, given its neutral status and its voluntary renunciation of nuclear weapons," the President of Ukraine said, referring to the decision taken today in Vienna on Ukraine`s chairmanship in the OSCE in 2013.
