UNIFEM REPORT “PROGRESS OF WOMEN OF THE WORLD” DISCUSSED
Chairperson of the State Committee on Problems of Family, Women and Children Hijran Huseynova has informed on activity of UNIFEM in Azerbaijan.
Being on a visit in Azerbaijan, the Executive Director of UNIFEM Ms. Noeleen Heyzer spoke on the “Progress of Women of the World - Global Requirements of XXI century”. She noted, that the women living in conditions of unstable economy collide with threat of poverty, basically with unreliable and low-paid work. He emphasized importance of creation of normal operating conditions for women, for reduction of poverty and elimination of gender inequality.
Director of the regional program UNIFEM on CIS Damira Saretbaeva has informed about the “Strategy of UNIFEM on space of the CIS - women, poverty and the further directions”. Senior technical adviser of UNIFEM on Azerbaijan Ms. Kristin Arab has told about the successes reached within the project “Women for Prevention of Conflicts and Peace Making on Southern Caucasus”. The national coordinator on project Gulshen Pashayeva has informed on plight of women-refugees.
At the conference, also discussed were other questions related to employment of women of Azerbaijan.
