UPU autumn session kicks off in Bern
Baku, October 24 (AZERTAC). The autumn session of the Governing Body of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) kicked off in Bern, the capital of Switzerland on October 24.
Elected for 4 years as a member of the Governing Body, Azerbaijan has contributed to the work of the UPU supreme body and worthily carries out all membership obligations. The postal administration of the country included in the composition of most committees, project and working groups of the Body and has acquired the image of organisation`s active member in the international community.
The timing schedule of the current session includes meetings of various project and working groups as well as commissions of UPU. Discussions of a number of important issues related to the development of international mail will be held at the session. The results and prospects of the project “Development of Financial Services” implemented in Azerbaijan with the financial support from the World Bank (WB) and aimed at providing financial services on the basis of postal infrastructure of the country is among them. Azerbaijan, which implemented the project successfully, was presented by the UPU to other countries as a model for implementation of similar projects in the postal sector. Azerbaijani delegates have been invited to present this project within the session.
Note that Azerbaijan at the session will be represented by the officials of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies. They are expected to take part in the most important events of the session.
