US Ambassador praises Azerbaijan`s anti-human trafficking efforts

Baku, December 2 (AZERTAC).The United States` ambassador in Baku, Matthew Bryza, has hailed the efforts of the Azerbaijani government to fight against human trafficking.

“Azerbaijan takes strict measures against human trafficking more than we thought,” he told journalists.

The ambassador noted Azerbaijan pays even more attention to measures against forced labor.

“Besides being a modern type of slavery, human trafficking is a very serious problem.”

Bryza said he frequently meets Azeri interior minister Ramil Usubov and his deputy Vilayat Eyvazov.

“The US is cooperating with Azerbaijani NGOs in combating human-trafficking. We are also working with the Azerbaijani government, and making achievements in combating human-trafficking,” Bryza added.
