US DEPARTMENT OF STATE WELCOMES DECISION OF CONSTITUTIONAL COURT OF AZERBAIJAN
The Department of State positively estimated this step. At the same time, it considers that it should be done much more to meet serious concern of the international community related to irregularities and shortages on November 6 parliamentary elections. The United States called on Azerbaijan to conduct lawful elections in the constituencies results of which were annulled, provide freedom of assembly and raise responsibility of the law-enforcement bodies that suppress this freedom, as well as to bring to responsibility those suspected in election fraud.
Official Washington will continue its cooperation with the government and citizens of Azerbaijan to expand political pluralism, strengthening of parliament, political parties and all democratic establishments in the country to hear the voices of non-party citizens, oppositionist and ruling party and always have respect for the will of people.
The United States called on the Azerbaijan government to accelerate reforms of the relevant institutions not to admit offences in the future elections.
