US UPHOLDS DEVELOPMENT OF DEMOCRACY IN AZERBAIJAN
Sharing his views on democracy and human rights with the students, the diplomat spoke of establishment of democracy, its development in his country. The Ambassador refused export of democracy from abroad. “It is a long and difficult way”, he stressed.
Noting the November 6 parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan as a step forward in establishment of democracy in the country, Mr. Harnish said the United States would and henceforth support development of democracy.
Speaking of US-Azerbaijan relations, the Ambassador said the links between two countries are high level. “Our militaries side-by-side serve peace safety in Iraq, Kosovo and Afghanistan”, he emphasized. He also underlined readiness of his country to uphold reforms in the field of safety, market economy and democracy, as well as cooperation in the energy field.
